It seems like every white guy in Hollywood is trying to get this part, with the front-runners being John Tavolta, Kevin Costner and Bruce Willis. I personally think Willis would make a fcking fantastic JR. On the other hand, I don't actually give a shit and would probably not watch a movie based on Dallas unless strapped into a recliner with Christina Aguilera giving me head the whole way through it to distract me from the fact that I was watching a movie based on Dallas.

That said, JR was a pretty cool bad guy. Who do you think out of today's crop of actors could possibly hope to fill Larry Hagman's shoes?

Damn, I hadn't even thought of that because of his age -- but he sure could do the JR part on attitude alone.

The producer of the film said in an interview that they originally wanted Harrison Ford, but that he was 'too old.' Bear in mind that Hagman may be over 70 now, but was only 46 when the series started, which is younger than Travolta (49), Willis or Costner (both 48).

I thought about Don Johnson as well (damn stupid insomnia making me think about this shit too much) He's younger than he looks (almost 55) and has that cilivilised/seedy thing down pat. But he might be a little too campy to take the part seriously.

Not going to be another "Wild. Wild West"? Hmm...

Kevin Spacey--remember his role as arms/drug dealer, Mel Profitt, in the "Wiseguy" series?
The elizir-shooting, sister-banging tycoon? Variations on a theme possible here?
"Only the toes knows"

Second choice--Ray Liota.

Oh man ... Walsh would have been a great choice. I had forgotten about him.

I honestly think he was one of Hollywood's best-kept secrets. It's a shame he never got any real high-exposure roles, but several of his spring right to mind when I think of him --

Colonel Jessup's XO in A Few Good Men

Fitz in Hoffa

The sleazy producer in The Big Picture

Another one, he played an abusive husband and father who is murdered in a sort of cut-rate mystery with Brabara Hershey, can't remember for the life of me what it was called, but Walsh played that asshole character so well I was actually calling him names ... taling to the TV ... lol.
